G.C.E. Applicant
Applicants should obtain passes in at least 6 subjects (including English and Chinese/ an alternative language other than Chinese and English) in the General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level/ General Certificate of Secondary Education/ International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCEOL/ GCSE/IGCSE) Examination in two consecutive years, and passes in at least 2 Advanced Level (AL) subjects (or 1 AL plus 2 Advanced Supplementary (AS) subjects).

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Student/Holder
IB diploma holders or students who are going to take the IB examinations in May 2009 are eligible to apply.

Higher Diploma/Diploma Student/Holder
Applicants who possess a Higher Diploma/ Diploma/ Professional Diploma or are final-year students reading for a Higher Diploma/ Diploma/ Professional Diploma can apply for admission to our undergraduate degree programmes. Non-final year students studying Higher Diploma/ Diploma/ Professional Diploma who want to apply for admission should have satisfied the following requirements:
- Obtain Level 2/ Grade E or above in at least six subjects* in HKCEE including Chinese Language or alternative language (other than Chinese and English) and English Language** with at least five subjects in a single sitting; and
- Obtain Grade E or above in any two sittings in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) in the following subjects:
1. AS Chinese Language & Culture#; and
2. AS Use of English##; and
3. Either 2 AL subjects or 1 AL subject plus 2 AS subjects
Remarks:
*5 subjects are acceptable if the total of these 5 grades is not less than 8 points (grade A to E shall be given the values of 5 to 1 respectively for the purpose of calculating the points)
**For English Language attempted before 2007, Grade C in English Language (Syllabus A) is considered equivalent to Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B).
#Those without Chinese Language qualification at HKCEE level may subsitute this with an additional AL/AS subject
##The following public examination results are recognized by the University as equivalent to Grade E in AS Use of English:
i) a score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (Internet-based) or above in TOEFL; or
ii) a score of 6 or above in International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Level; or
iii) grade E or above in GCE AS Level or AL Level English; or
iv) grade C or above in GCE O Level/ GCSE/ IGCSE English; or
v) grade III in Joint Matriculation Board (JMB) University Test in English (or a pass in the NEAB University Entrance Test in English for Speakers of Other Languages).

Associate Degree Student/Holder
Applicants who possess an Associate Degree or are final-year students reading for an Associate Degree can apply for admission to our undergraduate degree programmes. Non-final year students studying Associate Degree Programme who want to apply for admission should have satisfied the following requirements:
- Obtain Level 2/ Grade E or above in at least six subjects* in HKCEE including Chinese Language or alternative language (other than Chinese and English) and English Language** with at least five subjects in a single sitting; and
- Obtain Grade E or above in any two sittings in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) in the following subjects:

Applicants who possess a Degree or studying in the Final Year of a Degree programme.

Transfer Applicant
Current students of local UGC-funded institutions who are enrolled in a full- time or sandwich degree programme OR overseas students who have completed at least one year of study of a 3-year (Honours) degree programme or two years of study of a 4-year (Honours) degree programme at a tertiary education institution recognized by the University. Upon successful admission, applicants may apply for transfer of units for equivalent subjects at the University.

Mature Applicant
Applicants who do not possess the formal academic qualifications required in the University Admission Requirements but are aged 25 or over on September 1, 2009 may still be considered by the University provided that:
1. they have pursued an appropriate programme of study; and
2. they are able to show by acceptable evidence that they have achieved sufficient competence in their chosen field of study to justify admission; and
3. they can demonstrate their aptitude and suitability for a particular programme of study by their experience and maturity.

Others
For local qualifications, other qualifications may include an academic qualification from a post-secondary institution or a professional qualification acceptable to the University, e.g. students/graduates of Hong Kong Shue Yan University.
For non-local qualifications, applicants who have completed Grade 13 or Grade 12 with good grades, but without studying bachelor degree programme for at least one year, may still be eligible to apply. Application of this type will be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
