Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) is a scheme and the main route of application designed to assist students with Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) results (past and / or current) to apply for admission to:
- full-time or sandwich bachelor's degree programmes and some of the associate degree/higher diploma programmes offered by the following 8 JUPAS member-institutions which are funded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) through the University Grants Committee (UGC):
- City University of Hong Kong (CityU)
- Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU)
- Lingnan University (LU)
- The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
- The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd)
- The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)
- The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
- The University of Hong Kong (HKU)
- non-government-funded full-time bachelor's degree programmes offered by The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK).
Who SHOULD apply through JUPAS ?
You SHOULD apply through JUPAS if you belong to one of the following categories:
- Current secondary school student in Hong Kong sitting for the HKALE in the year of admission. All school applicants must apply via their respective schools.
- "Non-school applicant" who has either already obtained HKALE results or expect to obtain the necessary results in HKALE in the year of admission as a private candidate that would make you eligible for admission to the study programmes, AND you are not currently enrolled in a full-time or sandwich bachelor's degree programme in one of the 9 JUPAS member-institutions / participating institution(s) as listed here.

Who SHOULD NOT apply through JUPAS ?
You SHOULD NOT apply through JUPAS but should instead make direct application for admission to the University if you belong to one of the following categories:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time or sandwich bachelor's degree programme in one of 9 JUPAS member-institutions / participating institution(s), regardless of whether you wish to make the application on the strength of your HKALE results or not. If you wish to apply through JUPAS, you will be required to withdraw from the institution. If you do not wish to withdraw from the institution, you should not apply through JUPAS but make a direct application to us.
- You do not have any past HKALE results, nor will you be sitting for the HKALE in the year of admission. If you apply through JUPAS, your JUPAS application will be cancelled.
