The University
Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is a public-funded institution with a Christian heritage. The University seeks to create an educational experience that is holistic in nature and is committed to nurturing its students to become well rounded in their intellectual, professional, physical, moral and spiritual development. This educational philosophy is the basis of HKBU’s long-cherished aim of “whole-person education”. The University places dual emphasis on teaching and research, promotes extensive cross-cultural experience amongst its student population, and maintains strong links with the community through its active engagement in various consultancy and public service.

- Student Enrollment: As of September 2007, the University has around 4,910 full-time undergraduates, 2,579 programme-based postgraduates, and 320 research-based postgraduates, making a total of about 7,809 students. The annual enrolment for part-time evening programmes offered by the School of Continuing Education is over 50,000, amongst which 10,000 are at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Admission Requirements
For admission to undergraduate degree programmes, all applicants must satisfy both general University and specific programme admission requirements. This may involve an interview administered by the University. Evidence of proficiency in English is also required.

Cost of Studying
The cost of studying at the University as a non-local student is approximately HK$116,000 (US$14,871) per year for government-funded courses, including tuition fee, hostel fee and other living expenses:
- Tuition Fee: HK$75,000 (US$9,615) [Subject to increment for the academic year 2009-10]
- Accommodation Fee: HK$11,000 (US$1,410) [A double occupancy room at the Student Residence Halls for 10 months]
- Monthly Expenses: HK$3,000 (US$385) [Including meals, transportation, entertainment and miscellaneous]

Who can apply
Applicants who must obtain student visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department in order to study in Hong Kong may submit application on or before January 21, 2009.

Application Fee
Overseas applicants may settle the application fee of HK$300 by completing the credit payment form or issuing a bank draft in Hong Kong Dollars, payable to 'Hong Kong Baptist Unviersity'. The credit card payment form / bank draft should be sent together with the application form to the Admissions Section, Academic Registry (with applicant's name, Passport No. at the back of the bank draft).
